Instructions for Office Hysteroscopy
An office hysteroscopy involves the insertion of a thin, narrow hysteroscope into the vagina and uterine cavity while instilling a small amount of sterile fluid called saline. The procedure allows your doctor to visualize, evaluate, and biopsy the uterine cavity. The procedure
- Medications will be prescribed in advance to make the procedure as tolerable as possible.
- We recommend that you do NOT eat heavily prior to your procedure
- If you are experiencing heavy bleeding on the day of your procedure, you will need to be rescheduled. Such bleeding can impair visualization of the uterine cavity and therefore increases the risk of uterine injury.
