Sonya Lee, MD, FACOG
Dr. Sonya Lee, MD is recognized as a leader in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. She was the recipient of The Award of Excellence in Laparoscopic Surgery from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and a “Top Doc” by U.S. News and World report. She currently is the Chief of the Gynecology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Dr. Lee went to medical school at the University of and Michigan and completed her residency at Pennsylvania Hospital. She spent six years as the Director of Gynecology at Graduate Hospital before she was recruited to lead the division of Gynecology at PENN Presbyterian Medical Center. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where she teaches both residents and medical students. Her expertise includes comprehensive women’s health, minimally invasive surgery, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
Dr. Lee’s approach to patient care focuses on building trusting relationships, hearing pertinent concerns, and educating and empowering patients to take charge of their health. She recognizes that patients are not all the same and treatment plans have to be customized to the individual. Her patient care focus has made her a regional leader in Women’s Health.
